Track My Test

Specimen tracking and freezer inventory for labs

Track My Test is our web app for labs. Every step a specimen takes is a barcode scan that records who, when and where. Every freezer is mapped down to the box position, turnaround times are measured as you work, and patients can follow their sample on a status page.

In early access. Runs in a web browser with the barcode scanners labs already have.

Why we built it

External Software began by building integrations, specimen tracking and real-time reporting for healthcare and laboratory clients. Track My Test turns that experience into a product that small and mid-size labs can set up themselves: independent clinical labs, clinic labs, vet labs, research labs, biobanks and testing labs.

It is built so you don't have to put patient information in it. Specimens are identified only by the lab's accession numbers, which keeps the software simple and keeps sensitive data where it already lives. We explain that decision in specimen tracking without patient data.

Like Hark, our meeting recorder, Track My Test connects to Claude over MCP. Read how the two compare, along with Kelpic® property-management software, in connect Claude to your business software.

Frequently asked questions

What is Track My Test? +

Track My Test is a web app from External Software for labs. It tracks each specimen step by step with a barcode scan, keeps an inventory of every freezer down to the box position, measures turnaround times, and gives patients a page showing where their sample is.

Does Track My Test store patient information? +

No. It stores the lab's own specimen IDs (accession numbers) only, never patient names, birth dates or results. Matching a specimen to a patient stays in the lab's own system, and the patient page shows status only, with the specimen number masked.

Can I use Track My Test today? +

Track My Test is in early access. Labs can join the early access list on trackmytest.com. Pricing has not been announced.

Does it work with AI assistants? +

Yes. Track My Test has a built-in MCP server, so a lab member can connect Claude with their own sign-in and ask questions about their lab's specimens, storage and turnaround times. The connection is read-only.
